R. v. W.M.W

(Calgary, P.C. - Fail to Appear). WMW was charged with failing to attend court for a missing an appearance due to an error. WMW believed the case was scheduled a week later. WMW's believe may have even been justified due to officially induced error. It is important to remember that court appearances are sometimes missed due to mistakes made during either the Court process of sometimes confusion or mis-diarization on the part of the accused. During the Covid-19 Pandemic many Alberta criminal lawyers were concerned about warrants issued for missed appearance due to courts being shut down with little or no notice to the accused about the closure or where to attend. WMW successfully defended the case on the day of trial. David Chow is a Calgary based criminal defence lawyer who defends all criminal charges (including administrative offences such as failing to appear) throughout the Province; as well as in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
