R. v. D.D.
(Calgary, P.C. - Theft/Fraud). DD was charged with theft and fraud arising out of an investigation where items were located at a local pawn shop. In cases of stolen property the police can check pawn shop acquisitions online. The case against DD was very dated. Evidence connecting DD to theft was weak and the evidence that DD was actually the person who pawned the alleged stolen property was questionable. Not surprisingly, DD pled not guilty and set the case for trial. David Chow is a senior Calgary criminal defence lawyer who defends all criminal law cases, including property crimes. DD successfully defended the case at a low complexity trial.
